Reference Elements: Religious Works

Title of book in italics: Subtitle (A. TranslatorName, Trans.; # ed.). (Copyright year). Publisher Name. https://URL (Original work published YEAR)

Religious works published as books follow the book reference format. Religious works published as websites follow the webpage reference format.

Religious works are usually treated as having no author.

Use the year of publication of the version you are citing. Include the original publication date if you have one at the end of the reference.

Reference Elements: Ancient Works

Original Author (Copyright date current version). Title in italics: Subtitle (A. A. Editor-Name, Ed., A. A. Translator-Name, Trans.). Publisher Name or Website. Doi or Url (Original work published YEAR)

Use the year of publication of the version you are citing. Include the original publication date if you have one at the end of the reference. 

Use the abbreviation fro circa (ca.) for approximations of original publication dates.
