Reference Elements: Transcripts

The format for transcripts is almost the same as for other audiovisual media. Differences include:

  • The description after the transcript title is "Type of transcript" e.g. [Audio podcast transcript], [Speech transcript], [Interview transcript]. 
  • Provide the name of the interviewer, speaker, host, announcer or presenter in the author element and include their role in parentheses.
  • Provide the specific date of the podcast including Year, month day if possible.
  • Provide the episode number after the title in parentheses if available otherwise omit it.

Parenthetical Style

"Australians now agree our climate is changing, this is caused by carbon pollution, this has harmful effects on our environment and on the economy – and the Government should act" (Gillard, 2011, para. 8).

Carbon pollution is causing climate change and in turn negatively effecting the environment and economy (Gillard, 2011).

Narrative Style

Gillard (2011) claims that "Australians now agree our climate is changing, this is caused by carbon pollution, this has harmful effects on our environment and on the economy – and the Government should act" (para. 8).

Gillard (2011) declares that carbon pollution is causing climate change and in turn negatively effecting the environment and economy.
