1. Manually Create a Reference

1. Click File and select New Add
   • Or click the New Item button
2. Select the type of entry
3. Fill out the details of the reference

2. Drag and Drop PDFs from PC

1. Open file manager on your PC
2. Open Zotero
3. Drag your PDFs onto Zotero

If you save a PDF directly and Zotero isn't able to retrieve metadata (bibliographic information), it will leave the PDF as a standalone attachment.

To add metadata:

• Right-click on the PDF
• Click Create Parent Item
• Enter an identifier such as a DOI or ISBN

If all else fails, you can click Manual Entry after selecting Create Parent Item and manually enter metadata for the item.

3. Import RIS File from PC:

1. Click File and select Import...
2. Ensure you tick A file (BibTex, RIS, Zotero RDF, etc) and click Next
3. Find your .ris file in your downloads
4. Ensure to select Copy files to the Zotero storage folder and click Next
5. Click Finish
