Zotero is free and open-source reference management software.  Zotero creates citations and reference lists in any text editor including Word, LibreOffice and Google Docs. It can be used used on MacOS, Windows and Linux. 

  • Download the Zotero Research Assistant
  • Install the word processor plugins
  • Download the browser extension
